Every man has occasional anxieties about the size of his penis. For the average guy, these thoughts come and go without causing serious problems. But imagine your dick was only one and a half inches long when resting, or three inches when erect. It doesn’t bear thinking about does it? Yet that is the largest penis size likely to be recommended for penis enlargement surgery by a reputable doctor.
Apologies to any men reading this article who actually suffer from this debilitating problem. For them, enlargement surgery may offer the only hope for a condition that can cause serious relationship problems and severe depression.
Last-Chance Saloon
However, even for men who have a genuine problem, the last-chance saloon that is surgery is probably not the answer they are looking for.
Enlargement surgery first emerged in the US in the late 1980s. Since then, very few findings have been published on the success rates of the various available procedures. In other words, surgeons have little to boast about in the results of these operations. On the flipside, there have been many accounts from patients who were disappointed by the outcome of their treatment.
?It doesn’t point upwards anymore’
Posting an on a popular Internet male health community, Philip, an architect from California, shared an account of his surgery experience. He underwent a procedure to lengthen his penis, which involves cutting the ligament which holds the penis to the pubic bone to release extra length. The average gain of this type of treatment is usually around half an inch.
Philip said: “The surgery was expensive and basically pointless. My cock is a little longer when soft, but with an erection I don’t really see any difference. Plus my erection point upwards the way it used to.”
Lumps and Bumps
Another American enlargement patient, Bruce from Texas, underwent surgery to increase the girth of this penis. This procedure involves taking fat cells from the patient’s abdomen or thighs, and injecting it into the shaft of the penis. The penis becomes thicker, but in time the fat cells can collect into lumps, or disappear altogether due to re-absorption.
Bruce posted: "I’m about to have my second operation to remove the lumps and bumps from my penis shaft, and have new fat injected. Hopefully it will stabilise this time."
Doctors Recommend Non-Surgical Options
For many desperate men who can afford these costly procedures, the risk of undergoing penis enlargement surgery may seem worthwhile. But health professionals continue see them as a last resort and recommend non-surgical procedures to patients.
Israeli urology professor Yoram Vardi said: "We now know that the majority of patients are dissatisfied after these procedures. Research should be directed toward non-surgical options."
